Welcome to AP World History! This website contains information, notes, resources, and the tools necessary for you to be successful in our class. I hope you will enjoy this fast-paced whirl-wind adventure that some call WHAP.
Our course takes a global approach to examining and analyzing the patterns and processes of world history from prehistoric times to the present. The course is structured around six chronological periods and five course themes, with key concepts explored in each period. We will develop and apply historical thinking and reasoning skills including source analysis, argument development using historical evidence, chronological reasoning, comparison, causation, and historical contextualization. AP World History is a reading and writing intensive course; we will analyze a variety of primary and secondary sources beyond the textbook, as well as write numerous essays in preparation for the AP exam in May.
The course is fast-paced and can seem overwhelming at times, but we will make the journey together and maybe even have some fun from time to time. Just remember, I am here to help. Don't hesitate to contact me or stop by our room if you have questions or concerns. I hope you have a great and enlightening year!
